KADGAMALA KARATE IS FOUNDED
Shihan Geert Lemmens
Founder of Kadgamala Karate · Co-founder of WAKO
A respected figure in the global martial arts community, Shihan Lemmens founded the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO) in 1977, the Kadgamala Organization in 1979, and IAKSA in 1987. He continues to teach at Lemmens Martial Arts Academies in Germany.

Hanshi Marwan Abu Khadra
8th Dan Kadgamala Marg Karate · 5th Degree Krav Maga · 4th Degree Kickboxing
A 12-time German Champion, European Champion, and World Champion in Karate and Kickboxing, Hanshi Marwan served as National German Coach before immigrating to Canada in 1996 — later becoming Canada’s National Coach for Continuous Sparring. Inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame Europe in 2023, his blend of tradition, discipline, and modern self-defense lives on through Shogun clubs across BC.

Two decades of championship competition and coaching brought home to the Cariboo. Since 2006, Renshi Sheldon and Renshi Lee-Ann Lainchbury have trained hundreds of students in Karate and Kickboxing — carrying the Kadgamala lineage forward in Williams Lake.

With 25+ years of coaching experience, Renshi Sheldon is a twelve-time Canadian National Champion named to more than 11 Canadian National Teams across the IAKSA, WKA, ISKA, WKC, CNMAA, and WKU federations. He has fought at six World Championships in Ireland, Spain, Switzerland, Canada, and Greece — including a 2000 IAKSA World bronze after being the only competitor of 23 countries to fight point, light continuous, and full-contact divisions.
At the 2024 WKU World Championships in Rhodes, Greece, he won silver in Light Contact Continuous and bronze in Kick-Light Continuous while serving as a Canadian National Team Coach — a role he was named to again for the 2025 Worlds in Germany. In semi-pro ring fights he remains undefeated at 2–0.

Renshi Lee-Ann Lainchbury

Renshi Lee-Ann brings 25+ years of coaching experience and Canadian National titles in both Karate and Kickboxing. A two-time member of the Canadian National Karate Team, she represented Canada as one of two Canadian women to fight continuous at the IAKSA World Championships in Dublin, Ireland, in 2000.
She has coached at national and international championships throughout her career, most recently coaching and refereeing at the 2024 WKU World Championships in Greece.

Sensei Kat
A five-time WKU World Champion in Kickboxing, Sensei Kat trains and competes at the highest level while continuing her Karate journey (currently Green Belt).

Sensei Glen
Sensei Glen brings a cross-discipline foundation — 2nd Dan in Kickboxing, a Brown Belt in Jiu-Jitsu, and Purple belt in Karate. He was a competitor for Team Canada at the WKC World Championship in Spain and a referee at the 2024 WKU World Championship in Greece.

Sensei Holden
Training with Shogun since 2006, Sensei Holden won Silver for Team BC at the 2010 Canadian Nationals and Bronze for Team Canada at the WKC Worlds in Portugal. Today he assists with youth classes while training toward his Karate Black Belt alongside his two daughters.
